Time of Delivery of Plants

We dispatch Hostas by post from mid February to the end of November. We expect to pack and send ordered plants within 2 - 14 days from receipt of your order, but this can be delayed by adverse weather conditions particularly in February and March. Dispatch can also be delayed by a further 7 - 14 days when we are exhibiting at Flower and Garden Shows. These mainly take place during late April, May, June and early July

On delivery, the Hostas should be planted as soon as possible. We try not to send out the plants during very cold weather when frost is expected but if this is the case the plants should still be unwrapped immediately and placed temporarily in moist compost in a pot or tray.

Before dispatch we remove the Hostas from their pots and shake out the bulk of compost from their roots to reduce weight and make postage easier.

Availability of Plants and Substitutions

We do our very best to dispatch plants as ordered but regret that stocks of some varieties may not always be sufficient to meet demand when it is very helpful if you can indicate alternative varieties or permit us to substitute similar varieties at the same price. We will substitute unless otherwise instructed. Unsatisfactory substituted plants may be returned within seven days for an exchange or for a refund of their cost and postage.

Size of Plants Dispatched

Plants dispatched will be sufficiently developed for immediate planting in your garden or in containers to grow unprotected. We aim to send out plants which will produce an acceptable result in their first season.

Dwarf varieties will of course be smaller plants usually from 9 cm pots and the very large varieties will be from 13 cm or 1.5 litre pots. The very new and very scarce varieties will be smaller than the more usual varieties where we have more plentiful supplies.
